On Sunday, September 8th, Curry participated in Getting There Together (GTT): a celebration of all ages and abilities during Tenderloin Sunday Streets in Civic Center. The inaugural event was a citywide celebration of San Francisco seniors and adults with disabilities. Presented by CASE (Coalition of Agencies Serving the Elderly) in partnership with Livable City/Sunday Streets, the Department of Aging and Adult Services, Age and Disability Friendly San Francisco, and the Dignity Fund Coalition, the event brought together older adults and adults with disabilities to provide information and activities.

Curry Senior Center provided Cantonese and Vietnamese translators for both the information table and live translations of the program. We also tabled for the Senior Center, the Clinic, and our LGBTQ podcast – “Revolting Seniors”, had their own table and interviewed attendees throughout the event. Our Executive Director, David Knego, took turns acting as one of the emcees and impromptu stage manager. Samahang Pinoy, our Filipino social group, performed two numbers on the main stage: channeling Doris Day singing “Que Sera Sera” with two of the seniors on ukuleles and a graceful and entertaining Filipino Hat Dance.

All in all, Curry was a vibrant and smiling presence at what we hope becomes an annual event celebrating seniors and adults with disabilities. A special thanks to all of the Curry staff who worked so hard to share information about our seniors and services on a beautiful Sunday!
