LGBTQ+ Digital Mental Health Program: Become a Provider
Become a Mental Health Provider
Seeking Qualified LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, ACSW, AMFT, APCC Providers from the LGBTQ+ Community.
Curry Senior Center (CSC) creates a nurturing community that provides older adults with wellness, dignity and independence. Become an integral part of a citywide pilot program managed by CSC that provides equitable access to mental health care for marginalized and underserved older adults 60+ and those 18+ living with disabilities in the LGBTQ+ community. We’re seeking compassionate, culturally competent Mental Health Providers to provide short-term individual and/or group psychotherapy via Telehealth to address challenges associated with aging such as isolation, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss.
⅔ of LGBTQ+ older adults have experienced discrimination at least 3x in their lives
⅓ of transgender people do not have a regular doctor and report poor general health
About 20 percent of LGBTQ+ people avoid medical care out of fear of discrimination
Half of all HIV-infected Americans are over 50 years old
Join Our Legacy of Community Service
The pilot program honors the collective experiences of LGBTQ+ older adults. Compared to younger generations, they survived a time when gender and sexual variance were considered psychiatric diseases. The mental health of LGBTQ+ older adults and social connection are impacted by multiple social determinants: ageism, ableism, homomisia, transmisia, xenomisia, racism and classism. Symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation and trauma directly correlate to lived experiences of interpersonal, institutional and structural oppression.
We invite Providers with lived experience in the LGBTQ+ community to join us in supporting the mental health of our elders and prioritizing the needs of Communities of Color, Transgender & Gender Expansive (TGE) people, HIV Long Term Survivors (HIV LTS) and Immigrants. The skills and diversity of our Providers will help to shape the new program.
Our Indeed job posting is currently closed. We’re always looking to build a strong roster of Mental Health Providers for our referral program so don’t hesitate to submit your resume and cover letter as PDF files to the Program Manager at lgbtqprogram@
Only applicants who submit a cover letter that highlights the following core components of our program will be considered:
- Lived and/or professional experience with the LGBTQ+ community.
- Lived and/or professional experience with older adults 60+.
- Experience providing short-term/brief psychotherapy (approx. 12 sessions).
- Are you interested in providing brief individual counsleing, group counseling or both?
This remote, Telehealth role is only for California Providers who currently operate a private practice model of care. For pre-licensed Providers that means 1) you work in the office/practice of your Clinical Supervisor or 2) you work with a nonprofit counseling agency that supports your private practice (e.g. Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center, Center for Mindful Psychotherapy).
Made possible by funding from the City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS).
